Sheila Devanesan, MD

I saw Dr Sheila Sharon Devanesan, MD 18 months ago and then again one day ago. 18 months ago she hurried through the exam but did an ok job with listening. I felt heard but rushed. Well I returned for another visit and it was one of the worst experiences. She flew through the exam, did not want to listen to my symptoms or my concerns, was only trying to push medications on me. I am a medical professional and I would never treat my patients that way! I am beyond disappointed and will never return. It’s such a shame as she is very intelligent and has so much potential. But she has really let her bedside manner and professionalism go down the tubes. I understand John Hopkins may be putting pressure on her to see a lot of patients per day but that shouldn’t affect the quality of her exam! Never returning!

Dr. Sheila Devanedan is not only very knowledgeable, but she also has concern for her patients. I love her because of her professionalism, by asking many questions about my well-being ( outside of gynecological arena) and communicating with my primary doctor ( some dont). Im in good hands with my ob-gyn.

I was transferred to her during labor and needed a non- emergency c-section. Which generally mean a transverse scar, which is the way I though she cut me.Instead she gave me a special scar. I am still planning a vaginal birth after c-section but because of the type of scar she gave me she made it less likely i would find a OB/GYN that would let me attempt a vaginal birth with this birth. Luckily, I found one and I am attempting a vaginal birth but there was NONONO reason she should have given me a special scar like she did. I feel she purposes tried to ruin my chances of getting a vaginal birth for subsequent pregnancies.

When Dr. D walks in the room you really feel like you have her full attention. She is caring, thoughtful and sensitive to the many issues women experience asthey age. Thank you Dr. Devanesan!
