Like going back in time with no sense ofjust being a number. Nostalgic almost and felt more personal than being just one of a roomful of many (like St Vincents). Also got much help for arthritic pain….easily accessible !!!
I took my 3 year old daughter here when we thought her ankle may be broken/fractured. They were so kind and patient with her and made her feel special and kept her calm. I could tell they were really busy but they were gracious and really great to us.
My husband and I are very confident in the care we received at AFC on Montclair Road.Our PA Conners was very thorough, explained everything to us and was patient and kind!The staff at the desk took extra time to help us navigate tech issues as well. Our care provider Kasa Pittman admitted us and later performed skilled care for us, was professional and also very kind. So we are definitely content with the care we received. First part of the visit had went fine. After test and diagnosis they said I would need a prescription called in and a shot. An hour later the Dr. came back in and started to introduce herself, that she would be taking care of me today and realized she already seen me. I tell her Im still waiting on my injection you ordered a hour ago.
Very much recommend AFC Montclair. My wait times are usually short and all of the staff are very professional and compassionate. I’ve received much better medical care from their nurse practitioners than most doctors. Very grateful to have this facility in my community.
I had a great experience at American Family Care Montclair. The staff was friendly, professional, and I was seen quickly. The doctor thoroughly explained my condition and treatment plan. The facility was clean, and I was in and out in less than an hour. Highly recommend for quick, quality care!
Upon going to the back the medical assistant had an earbud in, and I had to repeat personally sensitive information. When I returned 3days later to get my results, no one was able to explain them to. Leaving me to make another appointment at a different location so I could actually get information and prescriptions that I needed. The Montclair location is lacking care and attention. The nurse was fine, as for the rest of the staff they could do better.
Went in thinking I had an ear infection, luckily just some inflammation. Steroids for the next 5 days and I’ll be good as new. Thank you for the prompt and friendly service. Would highly recommend!
There are no longer any doctors or nurse practitioners, you can only be seen by physicians assistants. This was a return visit after I wasn’t feeling better. The first visit the PA didn’t listen to my lungs or check anything. The only bright spot was Stephanie, she was able to draw my blood and made sure she could find the vein before attempting to draw it to avoid digging.
The receptionist was polite and friendly as well as the nurse and doctor. The nurse gave me a shot and I didn’t feel it at all. She is good! The doctor greeted me with a friendly smile, she listened to me and she solved my problem. This was the perfect staff on this 22nd day of October 2024.😊
I went in feeling bad on Saturday with a sore throat and coughing. They were very nice. The doctor came in and tested me for the flu, strep throat and COVID. I was negative on all 3. So they decided I had Upper respiratory infection. I got 2 steroid shots. And Im on 3 meds. Im so glad I could get to them over the weekend. Everyone was very nice. I got in and out on about 2 hours!! Very happy. This is my to go place when I cant get to my regular doctor.
Great experience. Ms Stephanie took excellent care of me. Friendly, professional, thoughtful, and kind. Took the time to explain things to me and always made sure I was okay every step of the way. I wish there were 6 stars to give to her. Best nurse ever!
The receptionist was rude. The person who took imaging was very helpful, attentive, and professional. The nurse practitioner or doctor who performed the examination was rude, dismissive, very unhelpful, and could only tell me that there was no “evidence” to support an injury I know occurred. I left without any resolution minus $40 and patience.
Generally, I have had great experiences there. Today was not one of them. Receptionist, super nice. I had an internal debate with myself regarding the lady that takes vital signs. Was she high, hung over, or just really tired? Her speech and movement were off, like she had to concentrate really hard on everything to do it correctly. She also had trouble walking a straight line. When she took my BP, she put the cuff on my lower arm. It was so loose, it slide down to my wrist. I had to stop and get her to put it on correctly on my upper arm. That is the only I have ever seen anyone in my life try to take a BP like that. The lab tech was super efficient and nice. He did a great job. My only complaint about the doctor was she did not listen to me about taking medications that can make me drowsy. I just cant. I made sure to ask if the meds would do that. She assured me they should not. The very first warning on the meds is about causing drowsiness. I really wish my PCP was open today.
If you’re going here for a DOT physical don’t. The cost is high at 175.00 I have never paid over a 100.00. I just needed it quick and they were right there were I was. The wait was unreal. Never has it taken me more than 30 minutes from check in to walking out. I was there 2 hours. I sure won’t be back. Look at my screen shot photos. I was in at 10:50. Went to the back at 12:31 PM and walking out at 1:06. So a total of about 2 hours and 10 minutes. Wouldn’t have been so bad if people who came in after me wasn’t called back first and some of them weee getting a DOT also. Very uncalled for. Staff was friendly.
AFC saved the day for me this Thanksgiving weekend treating me for bronchitis. I was seen quickly and PA Ra’Shun & Lab Tech Richard were both AWESOME!! I will definitely be back for minor health care needs. I visited today under the Veterans Choice plan which is a Godsend for minor illnesses. I will definitely be back to this Montclair location.
My first review ever, but I felt it was important after reading that multiple others have had the same experience at this location. When I first walked in, there was no wait; I was taken to a room. I waited an hour before walking out of the room to, as kindly as possible, ask if perhaps I should go somewhere else if they were too busy for me anytime soon (noticeably empty). I was just very sick/desperate at that point. The nurse said I’m free to go, but I will not be getting my co-pay back, even though no one had seen me. The NP or doctor? Came in, did not even introduce herself, and merely stated, ‘What’s wrong with you?’ She looked in my throat and immediately stated she would test me for COVID, strep, and the flu. I told her I understood its protocol, but I did not feel like I had any of these things. She came back with negative results and told me that it didn’t seem like anything was wrong with me. I told her I could feel that my lymph nodes were swollen, she said where? I let her feel them, and she said they didn’t feel swollen to her. I just said okay. She said “what do you want to do?” I asked her to look in my ears, listen to my chest, and I requested a steroid shot. She sent the shot my way, as well as, an antibiotic prescription. This was, by far, the worst experience in an urgent care setting, that I have ever experienced. I asked the discharging nurse what the practitioner’s name was, she told me it was Nekia Whitlow. I’m apologetic that it has come to this review, but it’s honestly alarming that numerous others have complained about a similar experience here.
I really appreciated the service at the Urgent Care on Montclair Rd. Everyone was nice and easy to talk to. Having that kind of service when you are feeling bad is a plus everytime. Thank you American Family Care team for taking such great care of me.
I wont ever go back to this AFC location again. I normally have good experiences at AFC. But I usually go to the Hoover/Greystone location.This was the longest time Ive had to wait - I was there for well over 2 hours. One person was called ahead of me that checked in after arrival, as I did. When I went up to ask why, I was told that I would be next, so I sat back down. When another person was called again ahead of me, and I got up and went to the door and asked why again, I was told that she thought I had left because I wasnt sitting in the same spot as before.I was blown away! I was supposed to be treated as a patient, but i was treated as a problem. Even then, they made me wait until those two people were taken back before they got to me, though I had been waiting a lot longer.To be fair - two other people were still there when I finally left - AFTER they had locked the doors because they were closing.I just hope those patients eventually got the care they had been waiting for, because the standard of American Care there is lacking.
I want to the doctors office with sever back pain and could hardly stand or bend. The wait was very brief and the office staff were greatNP Rashun Conner was my physician and was very personable, caring, knowledgeable, efficient and professional in diagnosing and treating my illness. Incidentally my wife has seen her before and expressed the same feelings. If you are in the area and need treatment, you won’t be disappointed.Thank you!
I accidentally cut my thumb.they got me in quickly and the NP who stitched me up was very meticulous and perfect! I was lucky to only have one person ahead of me when I got there,so, I believe I was only there about an hour and that included check in and the care combined. Perfect Urgent Care experience.
My experience yesterday was very bad. I called the facility before I went and ask if they did the cortisone shot. They assured me they did that procedure. When I got there and saw the nurse practitioner she told me they didn’t I would have to go to an ortho doctor. The receptionist also took a walk in patient before me. She stated my name fell off the list….but I was clearly sitting in the waiting room. They wasted my time and money! I still need to go to another doctor. They last a good patient and I will not go back there.
Arrives at 930am. X-ray for foreign body chest X-ray. PA seemed to be extremely busy. X-ray tech laughing & talking with lab staff. I know the order was entered because the PA told me so. X-ray staff very polite. Never saw a nurse. Finally left at 1215pm. Long wait for a simple test. Front desk staff polite and very helpful
The staff was very polite building was very clean the doctor was very clear on the things that she was explaining to me. I would recommend this place to families and friends great job staff
When I walked in, I was so sick I could barely check in! I left feeling better than ever and well taken care of! Everyone was super nice and went out of their way to make me comfortable till they could get me the meds I needed.
I would almost give you guys a 5- but the very long wait and iPad confusion just wouldn’t let me.HOWEVER! I would absolutely give each person who helped me- starting with the very kind and helpful reception who solved the check in process for me, to each individual in the back who assisted me.They were: efficient, well-versed, helpful, kind, patient, very knowledgeable, respectful, and the list could go on.So my words of unsolicited advice would be to give each employee a raise and fix your checkin system.Thanks!
Front person was snippy and not pleasant.The wait was incredibly long despite Noone sitting in the waiting room. Decided to leave and had to wait for another extended period of time for the lady to stop wiping her desk to get refunded.
The Staff and Doctors are exceptionally nice and friendly hella beautiful. They are patient in hearing what my issues were. Especially the very Beautiful Lil Shorty, that I made laugh way too much during the interview before seeing the Doctor. Do not go here. I walked in yesterday afternoon (around 4pm) stating I had severe back pain and thought it might be mycoplasma (walking pneumonia) or an injury. They told me upfront they did not have an X-ray tech so they wouldn’t be able to tell if it was an injury. I said that was fine as long as I could get tested for mycoplasma to see if that’s what it is. I then waited over an hour to even go back to an exam room after they skipped over me on the waitlist, then when I went back there, I had to literally spell out every letter of every medication I am on for some reason even though they weren’t going to be giving me any medications ? So there wasn’t any risk of interactions, just pointless to even ask. THEN, after another hour had passed, the nurse practitioner finally came in and said they could not test for mycoplasma but they could give me some naproxen (which is the active ingredient in Aleve, which you can buy over the counter at any drug store). I walked out at almost 7pm so I wasted 3 hours of my life even though they could have told me they don’t test for mycoplasma at check-in when I specifically asked for that. Then when I left and got a refund for my copay since they couldn’t do anything for me, they couldn’t tell me if they were billing my insurance for this visit. The receptionist just kept saying “I don’t know what that means, I don’t know what you’re asking me, I don’t know if your insurance will be billed.” So literally I may have just PAID to sit there for 3 hours on hard chairs with severe back pain. Don’t go here.
Worst experience ever. I made an appointment waited 2 hours . Made another appointment and they still had me waiting over 2 more hours . This took my whole day . Nothing was urgent about the care nothing was attentive about the staff . No separation of sick and non-sick patients. No efforts were made to speed the day . No one here cared about anything but making it to closing time . Needs new regulations or rules to make sure services are provided
I can’t believe that y’all don’t have x-ray facilities on the weekend. Seems like one of the most important things you would have. I will say that the staff was especially pleasant, but I came in there to have what I thought would be a broken finger x-rayed, and looked at, don’t have an x-ray person. How can an urgent care facility not have an x-ray person.
Absolutely horrible experience!! First, I waited in the exam room for over an hour and heard other patients come and go before me. I even went and asked the nurse if I had been forgotten. She was rude & told me I could leave but would not get my copay back. I decided to wait. I eventually saw NP Nekia Whitlow and she was extremely rude and cold towards me. I have never felt more discriminated in a professional medical setting. I’m sharing my experience to prevent someone else from being mistreated. This visit was 100% unacceptable!
Arrived at 12:10 for a 12:23 appointment and left at 2:35. Slow service for just getting a covid, flu, and strep test done, but service was friendly and helpful.Shout-out to Stephanie for being quick, professional, and friendly!
The process to sign in was quick and easy through a tablet, you can do it through their website as well. Everyone was professional and positive from the receptionist to the CNA ,lab, and NP. They listened attentively and took care of me promptly.
Service was good but the wait is extremely too long. With only one person in waiting area when I arrived it took entirely too long in the exam room waiting to be seen. It’s like this always but I was hurting to bad to drive to another location like I normally do. They really should hire a doctor to be on staff daily.
When i got there i was one of two people in the waiting room so they didnt even seem that busy! I waited almost a hour once i got in the room, then the nurse practitioner just told me they were testing me for flu, covid, and strep. The lady that tested me was very nice. But later on some lady just walks in with discharge papers. Tells me NOTHING!! Then the NP came back because she heard me asking questions and just told me that i was negative. The lady said “we are going to treat this like a viral sinus infection” and “prescribed” me Zyrtec and Afrin. Which i already had at home. And they didnt even volunteer this information. I had to ask what they were prescribing!! No explanation, no doctor, no compassion, or even customer service. That was totally not worth the 35$ co pay or two hours of my time. If the people that work at urgent cares act like they have no time for you then AFC should not be texting me asking for a google review.
I knew my symptoms would require at least require a COVID test. But I ended up having to get swabbed for COVID, Flu & Strep. Quanté made the experience less painful AND less stressful for me. I always panic a little in fear that it will hurt. she was not heavy handed AT ALL, was patient, & quick! She also made me laugh during, making my focus go else where. she made the process so smooth for me, especially with how bad i felt.
I went for a physical but was not provided the report.So spent money and was not given access to my actual record.Seems like a HIPAA violation.It would be great if they actually provided you access to your information.
Horrible experience. waited 2 hours with baby sick and my other 9 year old. I got so overwhelmed waiting with baby crying and older kid tired from after school. Long waiting and we left. It was a a waest of time without being seen. We had to come home because it was too long of a wait from 3:30 til 5:30
I love the people here they always have my back. They help me get my health straight when something may come up. I feel blessed with all my experiences at this location. I should mention names but wont, one Nurses aid here has helped me with not only my physical health but also my mental health and personal strengthening as well. I am tremendously relieved and non-stressed , I appreciate her so much. Thank you, AFC, for hiring great people!
Stephanie, is awesome. She takes her time. Even during the covid 19 which I hate doing. She really makes a difference very gentle and concern. Everyone there is professional always have a positive attitude. Stephanie please keep up the good work. She really enjoys her job that makes it even better.
Every staff member I encountered was prompt, kind, attentive, made it comfortable to communicate and to be taken care of, very great pace and sturdy with everything. Not one complaint, these ladies were amazing, with diligence. The facility was also very clean; this includes the restrooms, the lobby, the patients rooms, and the parking area. Phenomenal PERIODTTTT
I pre checked in and when I got there it was less than 10 minutes until I was seen by someone. I was in and out in less than an hour with a diagnosis and medications sent to my pharmacy
Was there first thing in morning. Waited one hour with a sick child after checking in when receptionist realized the online form she had me fill out ‘didn’t transfer’. Was bumped to the bottom of waitlist. Nurse Stephanie was a doll and comforted my son with his swabbing phobia. We were there 2.5 hours.
I was attacked by a nest of yellow jackets! Swollen all over from stings& miserable. AMC got me in and out quickly. Very nice & helpful. Had my 3 RX called in by the time I got to the pharmacy! Great job!
Had an emergency and needed some help. The whole team was great but Stephanie (who did my labs) really set my fears at ease. Fabulous job, everyone!

Heard one of the nurses badmouthing me because I had my door open while waiting - it was extremely hot and stuffy in my room and I offered to wear a mask. The nurses who helped me were great but that one was completely unprofessional. I feel sorry if she constantly has that negative energy towards other patients and her coworkers.
I came in at 5:30 after work and only waited for a short while in the waiting room. They have an excellent staff who is friendly and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this location!

This office is not very attentive to patient’s needs. I left today without a diagnosis. All we know for sure is that I was possibly negative for Flu A&B and COVID. The nurse practitioner that consulted with me tried to prescribe antibiotics without confirming a bacterial infection. I will most likely never be back.
I do not recommend people using this location. I got in to get a covid and strep and mono test done because i was running a high fever and did not feel well. I eventually made it back to a room where i sat for close to 30 minutes…i started to feel as though they had forgotten about me so i walked out into the hallway and someone told me they would be with me shortly and they had not forgotten about me… around 15 minutes later a doctor came in and told me all my test came back negative (i had not even been examined yet) i asked how that was possible because no one had run any test on me…it was confirmed that they did in fact forget about me. They then tried doing my exams to come back again saying all test came back negative. I left at this point and continued to have a 101 degree fever and ended up going to a different facility 2 days later where it was confirmed immediately that i did in fact have covid… it was a very unprofessional and unsafe situation as i proceeded to leave the clinic thinking i was fine when in fact i was contagious with covid. IF YOU CAN GO TO A DIFFERENT FACILITY I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION
Went in for flu like symptoms. I was in and out very quickly with a negative diagnosis to boot! This hypochondriac has been going to this location for over a decade for a reason!
The wait was minimal and the receptionist was cordial.I signed in on the iPad but then a request for more info came on my phone which was unnecessary and confusing. They had all my information but wanted me to repeat information and upload pictures which they already had. Then the receptionist made a copy of my credit card which I thought was unnecessary and I want that info deleted from your records.
My mom had an awful experienceAfter checking my mom in I asked the reception to please make sure someone helps her back as she was so weak she could hardly walk. I had my infant daughter and niece with me and I did to not want to expose either of them to any illness so I had to return to my car. When the nurse came to bring my mom back she snubbed her nose and refused to help her.When sending her medications the pharmacy they completely botched her first name. And when I say botched I mean they put it in as something completely different.Lastly they gave her medication to treat something completely different than what she was diagnosed with.This was a full one waste of not only time, but also money which is frustrating especially in this economy.
Slow!!! I was put in a room at 10:30, didn’t see the nurse until 11:15. Was told I was going to take a Covid test and a Strep text. This test were administered at 11:45, and was told the results will be ready in 15 minutes. At 12:30 I was told my results and was then free to leave.In my experience with check-ups and things of that nature, it has never been a 2 hour process. Especially when it didn’t seem busy at all (two people) in the waiting room. I’m certainly an understanding person but this just seemed a little absurd.
Everyone at this Irondale location from the young lady who signed me in to the lab lady and everyone I came into contact with was wonderful! They took their time with me and didnt rush! Ill definitely go back to this location!

Took my boyfriend to this location for some upper respiratory issues. All of the staff was lovely! We were in and out in under an hour and a half which is a lot speedier than most places these days. But again, the staff is what made it special and they listened with open ears. Thank y’all!

Words cannot express how grateful I am for the ladies at AFC after my visit today. a little back story I’ve went to st Vincent highlands 3-4 days straight only being given resolutions for the moment, no actual help. Today my pain level was through the roof I barely could walk stepped out on faith and tried one last doctors office and it was here not only was I in and out Dr Rashun knew exactly what the issue was after taking a look at me 10/10 i definitely recommend I cannot express the love I have for these women after today they’re caring one even held my hand as I was being taken care of Megan at the front desk prevented me from turning around and walking out the the door IM SO HAPPY SHE DID I LOVE YOU ALL LADIES it may not mean much but the way you all took care of me today I can’t put into words how overly satisfied I am with the services provides TAHNK YOUUUU KASI, TANYELL, MEGAN Stephanie and ofc Doc Rashun!!! Oh and by the way don’t forget I’m dancing at your wedding haha THANK YOU AND YALL IM DEEPLY GRATEFUL. I saw Nurse Practitioner Perkins. She was incredibly thorough and knowledgeable and took her time with me. I was very impressed. I have a primary care doctor I normally go to, but he couldn’t see me. I had low expectations, but was super pleased with the care I received yesterday.
Stephanie up front was so kind and helpful while efficient and Lisa was so patient and thorough! Overall wonderful experience!
My son had AKG done at that location ,they said you have to go to emergency now ,he is having stroke (tremor abnormal). I took him to the emergency right away. They say he have to see a cardiology. I took him to the cardiology. They found out that the Akg was not connected right made it get wrong reading so I have to pay for hospital Emergency and cardiology and it turned out. My son was OK. I tried to call several time and left message. No answer.
When you are sick, all you want is to be taken care of and treated kindly. And this office did that and so much more. I called ahead to see if they required and appointment. Spoke with Stephanie and she was very professional, friendly, and kind. Had me come right in, they take walk ins. When I got there both girls at the front desk helped me get checked in and quickly to the back with a nurse. Every single person, and I mean EVERY single person that I had contact with during my visit was extremely nice, comforting, and seemed happy to be there. I had two different nurses take care of me for tests and medications, Aisha and I unfortunately didnt get the name of the second girl. They both exceeded my expectations as well as Dr. Connor. This office has the best staff! I highly recommend.

This was my first time today going to this facility. I love how the person at the front desk was very welcoming, helpful and patient. As well as the rest of the workers, they were outstanding as well. I was taken very good care of, and they explained to me not only what was wrong, but what could be done to help fix my problems. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs to be seen.
Changing my 5 stars to 1 star. I came in today with a sinus infection and this doctor that I never saw before told me that she would have to do a PCR Covid test before treating me, to make sure it’s not Covid. I told her that I have done a covid test and it came back negative, but she didn’t want to listen.As the results her only option was to leave me untreated for days until the results come in so I can have another appointment, this is ridiculous! My head hurts and I don’t have Covid, I am not going back to this AFC as long as Kayla Whitlow is there!!
I was given directions to the facility by the person that greeted me when I arrived. Help me through the process of getting my information into the tablet. And the care given was wonderful and professional. Time was like carrying for a family member making sure that you were feeling comfortable the whole time I was there. I would referred AFC to others. I have to go back for a follow-up.
I have had two visits to AFC Montclair and both were pleasant. The staff was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. I have recently moved back to this area and I don’t have a PCP yet. I hope my future doctor’s office runs this smoothly.

I am a physician and I knew my mom needed a specific medication that was controlled which I obviously could not prescribed since I am not her doctor. She was seen by a PA, and I told the PA that my mom needed gabapentin, and she agreed (without even looking or examining my mom), but already said she didn’t have a DEA and could not prescribe that medication. I asked her if she could please call the supervising physician or send for her to sign the meds and she refused. I also asked her to not prescribe NSAIDS to my mom due to her age (80) and she prescribed an injection of Toradol. On top of that the place never gave as a form to fill in or asked for my mom’s past medical history, surgical history, social history. Her weight and height were asked and not measured.As a physician , I would never recommend anyone going there.
Visited today on 12/22 and the nurse practitioner that saw me was so rude. People already don’t feel good when they walk in and she was abrasive for the 2 minutes I saw her. She made it very clear how much she didn’t care. Thank you to the ladies in the front who are always nice. Hoping to have a better experience with the NP if there’s a next time.
The staff was friendly and welcoming. The wait was not long and Stephanie MA took my blood pressure and temp. She was light-hearted about my situation, kind, informative, and personable. I was feeling low but she made me feel better and have a positive outlook.
The woman at the front desk, Stephanie, and the nurse practitioner who saw me for poison ivy were so sweet and attentive! I was there first thing and so uncomfortable and they got me in and out. Great customer service, will definitely be back!

Don’t go here. Waited for 1 hour and 45 mins in the waiting room and never got called back to be seen by a doctor. I was the only sick patient in the entire waiting room so they weren’t even busy. I eventually had to leave because I had work obligations but I will never come back here. Other people were having issues as well trying to get physicals and drug tests for jobs. It appears to be severely understaffed and unprofessional and they could care less how long you are waiting.
It takes a long time to be seen and that drives anyone crazy but Stephanie was very helpful and gave amazing service I felt very comfortable with her.
Everything went smoothly, everyone was very nice and professional as was the last time I was in ! My only complaint was it was a little cold in the building but I was in shorts and flip flops !

The staff was friendly and very helpful. It didn’t not take long to be seen. I came in with a sore throat but it appears strep, Covid and mono test were all negative and was attributed to be viral so therefore no antibiotics would be administered. All the meds were over the counter except for the pills given for a cough which if my chart had been read it would has said I had an allergy to the majority of the medicine I was given to take. Throat yet sore and I still can’t swallow without excruciating pain. And I have medicine that I must take everyday. I wasn’t very pleased with the service provided because apparently my chart wasn’t really read so therefore I was just given instructions on taking something that I could have had a life threatening reaction to and wound up in the hospital. Not a very good visit and I’m still in pain and having trouble swallowing and not able to eat very much. I’ll call my primary care physician in the morning 06/20/2024 for follow up.
They took care of me very well, explaining all my options and treatment plan. Everyone was nice and caring. The doctor and nurse, Stephanie were amazing! Thank you so much
AFC in Montclair Rd is an excellent care provider. I have used them in multiple occasions, and always received excellent and caring urgent care!
I work in healthcare administration, so I’m sensitive to operations. They got me in quickly, were communicative on what was happening and what to expect. As a bonus, the administrative and clinical staff were kind and knowledgeable. I’m very pleased with my visit and will use them again when in need of Urgent Care services.
Came in with the idea I had UTI and was testes positive, In and out within an 1 hour.The doctor notified my Pharmacist and a antibiotic was prescribed. The next day Im doing better.I always go to AFC when my regular doctor is unavailable.I am debating using AFC instead of my regular doctor due to the fact that AFC is always available and an appointment is not necessary.
Great staff and service but just like everybody else the wait times are diabolical. It shouldnt take 3 hours to do a visit, especially when there is not many people being seen.
They were great at first but when I went to get my lab results back, they just handed me the sheet and didn’t explain anything to me. I had to call another office so they could explain the results to me
My experience was HORRIBLE!!! I will never go to this location again. Lets start off they were VERY slow. I checked in before 12 and didn’t leave til after 2 something pm.I went in for a runny nose, couldn’t breath from time to time, scratchy throat sinus issues. I got checked for Covid and flu of course. Doc never checked anything. No breathing, no look at my throat. No checking the ears. NOTHING. Once the test results came back in negative, the doc came In with a discharge paper and was about to let me leave and said I’m prescribing you some cough syrup.I never said I was coughing. I explain my symptoms and told her I felt I needed an antibiotic. In which she said I didn’t, in I requested for a steroid shot cause I was 100% miserable as. I looked like Rudolph the red nose reindeer. That’s just how much I have been blowing my nose.I went out to ask the clerk could she get the doc, because I had a question to ask, she said she would get her. But when she came in the room she never asked me what my question was. She just said I changed your prescription. I was like okay.I knew right then that she had horrible bed side manners. She doesn’t listen to her patients and I would never want her to see me again,I left requested supervisor number, and they will hear from me next week.

Was there for over 3 hours waiting to be seen. Several people that checked in after me were seen by the nurse practitioner before me and left. I will not be going back to this location.
By far this was the best AFC I’ve been to. Clean, the entire staff was very courteous and polite. The wait time was quite reasonable. The Nurse practitioner was very thorough and took time to listen. Overall good experience. This will definitely be my first choice for urgent care.
Stephanie has great customer service I came in a she was quick to assist me right away. She was very helpful and concerning about my situation and let me sit in my car as I wanted patiently to be seen by a doctor. Stephanie’s attitude was great and she actually made me smile even though I was dealing with a lot of pain.

I have gone here many times over the years with no issues. I went the other day and asked for a steroid shot and antibiotics because I have had a sinus infection for over 12 days now. I was prescribed allergy meds and nasal spray. I told them that I already had all that at home and that I needed steroids and antibiotics to knock this out. The Doctor pretty much refused to give me a steroid shot and antibiotics unless I had inflamed throat or bad asthma. I spent 3 hours here when only 2 people were in front of me. There is nothing Urgent about this place and the people do not care about you at all. I am still very sick and now run the risk of it developing into something worse. I was not going to write a review but I felt compelled to after how terrible my experience was. Avoid this place if you can.

We had a good experience with this place. Usually places like this get bad reviews because people complain about the wait times. But this location closes at 6pm and we arrived at almost 5 and it was crowded. The sign in and registration was streamlined as they used tablets and a link is sent to your mobile phone and you could finish on your phone as opposed to filling out paperwork. We had a time to wait but the lab tests were really quick and the actual time it took for us was less than 20 minutes. People need to understand that urgent care facilities have a lot of volume and the providers have to examine and diagnose patients quickly and efficiently.
Very nice caring efficient. Friendly from front desk to Dr exam. I highly recommend!!! My husband and I were both under the weather but this Saturday morning staff made us feel better just by their friendly pleasant attitudes and care!!

I came in today not feeling well at all and quite frankly was having one of the worst days/weeks in recent memory. Before I could even walk in the door I was greeted by Stephanie and her warm personality and she reassured me that everything would be alright. The front desk staff was very friendly and compassionate towards my needs and helped me fill out everything fast. I only waited about 5 minutes before I was called back which is unheard of. From there Kya and Keyona took me in for processing and made everything move smooth and perfect. I had to receive a few shots which is something I dread and have always had a problem with but Ra’Shun, Tammie and few others helped me get through this fear of mine so I could get the help I greatly needed. They were able to directly diagnose all the ailments I was dealing with and get me the correct regime I needed to feel better. This is the most amazing staff and medical place I’ve ever experienced in my long years of living and I will come back here for my medical needs over my own primary doctor. The beautiful smiles, great personalities, and caring is why I view this place as one of if not the best places in Birmingham to receive to help at. If you go to any other place besides AFC Montclair you’re wasting your time!

Decided to give the Montclair clinic a simple because of the receptionist Ms. Stephanie answering the phone. She was very helpful and professional. I was very pleased with my experience with her. She was very pleasant doing our conversation and was eagle to ensure she understood my health concerns. The staff was pleasant and I was seen promptly, although I had to wait for quite a long time to speak with the doctor after taking requested tests.Thanks to Stephanie, she kept tabs on me and made me feel much better.
Although the waiting room was full, the staff moved us along as quickly as they possible could. And Stephanie at the front could not have been nicer or more helpful. She made me feel like she truly cared.
Was a very fast process. Mostly done on devices. The sweet girl that took my blood pressure my have raised my numbers a little bit. I usually sit around 120 but was 160 today. Sweet and Nice will get that blood pumping. She even ask to see my tush then stuck a needle in it. Well at least I feel better. Thanks Yall!
Used the on/line check in. Go there at 8:00 got shot given by Quinta that I didn’t even feel…and cough prescription and out by 8:35!

The use of all touchscreens and phones makes it difficult for people with essential tremors to use. I told the lady at the front desk about my problems. The nurse that assisted us was friendly and professional. The lady at the front desk wasnt as friendly as I would hope for a 1st contact point for AFC Montclair. While taking my wife and my (we came together, same issue), that lady was speaking to and helping another patient that had walked up. I felt as if this could create HIPAA issues which I am sure need to be avoided. This was wrong for the other patient to have walked up but the employee should have said something to her instead of trying to get our information and helping the other patient at the same time (the patient came in after we did). Just encouragement to have all employees be professional and friendly. The facility did appear to be understaffed given the number of patients waiting, but that is a management problem. This is cold & flu season. Thank you
There was only one provider at this office. After I’ve been sick for 3 weeks, even after antibiotics, I thought it had to be something else. I asked for a flu test, they said they’d also want to check for Covid, I let them know I’ve been tested twice this week already & was negative. The flu was negative. I’m coughing, congested, runny nose, stuffy nose, headaches, sore throat. I was given no meds, no labs, no steroid shot, nothing. I was basically told to call my regular primary care doctor. So why did I just spend a $40 co-pay & over 2 hours for you to tell me to go to another doctor to get an answer or relief? They were useless. There was also a used vial of something on the floor in my room; disgusting.
I’ve had mostly good experiences at this AFC location, but today was above and beyond great due to the treatment from the gentleman who took my vitals and set me up to be seen, and from the NP, Samantha. She listened to my every concern, spent ample time explaining details re my visit, and had generally lovely bedside manner. I definitely feel better when the professionals aren’t zipping you in and out and not offering to listen. I could tell that Samantha cares deeply about her patients and this is such a fresh change from the norm.The rest of the front desk staff were polite and courteous as well.I didn’t get the name of the gentleman who took me in, but to him and Samantha, thank you!
We had a wonderful experience at Montclair AFC this morning. We were met with happiness and care by all staff. Ms. Tanyell was so sweet at the front with my baby and me. All the nurses treated my baby so well and Ra’shun Conner the PA was so kind, caring and efficient in treating us. Thank you!
Best urgent care experience that I have ever had! Dr. Conner and nurse Rikia are AMAZING! They got me in and out very quickly while still communicating everything very thoroughly with me. They made sure that I was comfortable with everything that they did, they answered all of my many questions, and just quite frankly made me feel so much better and comfortable about my medical issues. Though I hope to not see them again for the same issue, I will absolutely be going straight to them the next time that I am sick!
I arrived at this place around, 11:45 and didn’t leave until a little after 3. Way to long just to have a test done.
I went in for a pre employment physical and drug screen. I used the save a spot in line feature online, and it was so nice being able to fill out all the information beforehand and automatically be placed in line after checking in! Everyone was very polite, patient, and helpful to me and the other patients in the waiting room. The drug test, triage, and full physical took about 15 minutes, and I was able to walk out with all the paperwork I need! And, although it doesn’t necessarily affect the skill level of this clinic, every provider I saw was a black woman from front desk to clinician!
Interesting am still waiting on blood test results. When can I expect them?

While I appreciate the politeness and professionalism of the front medical staff, (Which has been a great improvement since my previous visits) my experience with the doctor I saw was disappointing. The doctor appeared exasperated, rushed through the consultation, and made a condescending remark when asking for information that the facility had documented during my visit two days prior but now seemed unable to locate.I find it troubling when overworked healthcare providers allow their frustrations or biases to affect their interactions with patients and I am tired of this pattern with my concerns. Empathy and bedside manner are essential in a profession that deals with health and life-or-death situations no matter how small the health concern is. If these qualities are lacking, it raises concerns about whether one should pursue such a critical role. I feel its one of the main professionals that should not be pursued for the interest of money but healthcare/insurance companies have become such a business over care and its unfortunate.Additionally, the doctor attempting to placate me by calling me friend at the end of our session when it was clear I was upset felt dismissive and did little to address the issue.

I have been here since 8 o clock. I was the 5th person in line from when they opened. It is 9:03 and I have watched every person in the waiting room get to pass me in line and be seen. The guy that was in front of me at 8am has already been seen and left. I will NEVER come here again. I’m sick and do not need to sit in a waiting room coughing my lungs up for over an hour. They also over charge me on my copay… I do not have a $55 copay for any doctors appointment but yet I pay that here every time.
I was having some chest discomfort and they did an EKG and full blood panel and ruled out a heart attack.
From the RN to the PA were very kind and knowledgeable. Thank You !
We were very pleased with the staff. They were very personable and took great care to make us comfortable in our time of illness. Gave us answers quickly and efficiently. They got us in and out in a shorter time frame than I expected. I will return if the need arises again.
Dr. Konner pre diagnosed my husband before any test was done, she came in laughing and joking in a serious situation, the level of unprofessional she gave to him was unacceptable, our people get to confortable when doing business with each other, we also asked for a call back about the result and never received it. We will not be going back.

My care at this location was excellent! Everybody from reception to examining room was professional and helpful. I felt like the dr was thorough and left me with a plan to overcome whatever this is! I was there approx 1 1/2 hours from check-in to exit. I was taken back to a room within first 15 mins of arrival.
I went because of course, there is a virus, sickness going around and of course Covid decided to spin the block. They were very sweet and comforting. I was coughing back to back non stop, they offered me water, and asked me if I was okay. I went early in the morning like around 8 am going on 9 am. and I was out early as well. There were a couple of people in the lobby when I arrived but not much at all. If it’s your first time have your identification and insurance cards ready. Their check in process is so convenient and easy. You sign in at the front desk on the iPad, and you will get a link to your phone to complete registration & upload information. The staff really made the difference because I tried to wait as long as I could before going to a Dr. thinking it was something that would go away quickly. It wasn’t but when I went I felt heard, I was comfortable, everything was explained to me and even though I know there were other patients I didn’t feel rushed. I will definitely visit this location again. I was very impressed. As I was leaving there were more people in the lobby. My peace of advice for medical staff is to give them some grace. We’re all dealing with something and they are busting their butts daily around a bunch of sick people.

The staff are very professional and helpful. we were seen pretty quickly and were treated well. I wish there was a way to check in without using a phone. Im much faster with paper and pen, but that is upper management and not the fault of the local AFC that we went to. overall, a very good visit!
All of the women here are very warm and welcoming, from the receptionist to the doctor. I was in and out in less than hour. Every woman that came into my room was thorough and took time to listen to me. I felt well cared for and I appreciated the kindness included with the care.

My experience was professional and friendly. All of my needs were addressed with with a plan for the future. Patience was displayed when I asked questions about my diagnosis. It does appear the staff has changed for the better. The staff that was there during my visit seems to be different from maybe a year or so ago, which I am pleased with.

You are more attentive to what the patient says, thinks, and feels. My primary didnt think that my symptoms were enough to schedule an appointment. They discounted my concerns about possibly having an infection. I appreciate that you listened to my thoughts and concerns.

I just left AFC, have covid and am feeling pretty terrible. EVERYONE there was so professional, kind, courteous, smiling, and made me feel better. The women who checked me in, the nurses who triaged me, the nurse who took my labs and chest X-ray, and RaShun, the PA...they were all exceptionally professional and kind. I did not have to wait very long to be seen, nor did I have to wait very long to be treated. I would highly recommended this facility to everyone. Thank you all for being so kind!

Everyone was very nice, but i waited 30 minutes for the nurse practitioner and when she saw me, she was there for 3 minutes and then left. no one told me i could leave or if she was giving me my doctors note or prescription/documentation. because of this, i sat in the room for 30 more minutes before someone came by and i asked them if i could leave. once again, everyone was very nice but better communication would be good for this place.
AFC staff was nice, quick to help, and understanding. They all deserve to make at least 1 million dollars an hour or a day.

I was in the office on 10/10 because of my back hurting. The NP was very sweet and did an x-ray in the office, but also sent me for an MRI. I was told the MRI office would contact me to schedule my appointment. So I waited.10/19 I decided to call to ask when I might hear something about scheduling my MRI and was told “oh, you have an appointment tomorrow at 1:45 PM”. Great thanks for the heads up. So on 10/20 at 1:45 I travel to the opposite end of Highway 280 and have my MRI done. I waited a week to check on my results. The first time I called, I was told the results were in and that the NP would call me to read me my results. Never got that call. The few times I’ve called since then, as soon as I give my name I get attitude & am told immediately that my results are not in, but they will call me when they come in! Here it is 11/1 and I still have no results & a hurt back! I am still being told they don’t have my results. So I called the MRI place and to my surprise my results were sent back to AFC on 10/21!! The MRI place tells me that I can come pick them up? Seriously? I should’t have to go chasing my test results down!! This very unprofessional. I wouldn’t NOT recommend this place due to the attitudes I get from the people who answer the phone up front!****Update to the office manager calling me to read my MRI results…She says everything is normal on my scan. She doesn’t see a need for anything further. I said oh ok..that’s weird cause I’m still in pain & my thigh is still numb.Monday am the NP calls me & reads my results to me. Come to find out I’ve had a bulging disc, no cartridge in my spine, its bone on bone….and something is pinching a spot that’s causing a narrowing of an artery or something which is why my thigh is numb. I WOULD STEER CLEAR OF THIS PLACE! Office mangers think they are Dr’s now!!!!
Today was my first time and visit at American Family Care Inc. Clinic. With that being said; Ra’shun Conner P.A. and the entire staff Nurse Stephanie, the Lab, Front Desk, Office Manager Quante and the entire staff. They truly will spend the whole scheduled period with you if need be; I didn’t feel rushed, she listened, I felt very comfortable and was able to ask any questions. She is awesome and every professional. You will not be disappointment with this medical staff and treatment.

Not great. I was their first person at 8am. You have to fill out paperwork electronically then the same paperwork on paper. I did my drug screen but they didn’t do everything on the form that I needed so I had to go back so they could finish. The second person who drew blood was very nice and professional. The first lab person training the lab technician talked to the trainee like she was a 4th grader, So demeaning! I finished up around 10:45. Won’t ever go here if I’m sick.
They were very busy, which is understandable given the uptick in Covid, flu, and RSV, so it was a long wait (2.5 hours). But the staff was extremely polite and professional, and I was very satisfied with the level of care I received.

I had an amazing experience at AFC, with Kalisha and Ra’Shun. While taking my vitals, Kalisha took her time to listen to me explain my symptoms, she addressed my concerns, and she prepared me to be seen by Ra’Shun. Also, Ra’Shun had the most calming, reassuring, and knowledgeable bedside manner. Not only was Ra’Shun attentive, she was also extremely thorough on her journey of diagnosing me. She explained in detail, how each prescribed medication was going to address both the symptoms and root causes of my illness. I entered my visit distraught and weak, and I left feeling confident that total healing and restored health was in my immediate future. If I ever find myself incapacitated again, I really hope to be seen by Kalisha and Ra’Shun at the AFC on Montclair. I’m forever in their debt. Thank you!
Fast, professional, was in and out in less than 30 minutes. Was able to register online and get paperwork out of the way before I got there. Was also able to make an appointment but since my paperwork was done and they werent busy, they took me early. I was done before my appointment actually started. They listened to my concerns and provided vast number of solutions.
I used to have a bad review of this office, however today they have did a great job Stephanie from the lab was amazing and gentle, so nice to have someone who when your sick enjoys there job enough to be friendly! Unfortunately that’s just not the case a lot of times these days.
